We are a small animal practice in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, first established in 1988. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Joel Alves DVM MscVet Msc(Bris) GPCertSAS BSAVA PGCertSAS MRCVS
Joel graduated from the University of Évora (Portugal) with a Master’s degree in veterinary medicine, followed by the completion of a surgical internship at Northwest Surgeons, a multidisciplinary referral centre in Cheshire. He has continued his studies in surgery having completed both the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS) general practice certificate in surgery and the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) postgraduate certificate in surgery. Alongside clinical work, Joel has been involved in research, leading to the completion of a Master’s degree in stem cells and regenerative medicine at the University of Bristol and he is also currently enrolled in a part time PhD project in biosciences (Cardiff University), studying glutamate receptors antagonists as a potential novel approach to treat cruciate disease in dogs.
Bill Slee BVetMed CertAVP(VC) MRCVS
Bill qualified as a vet in 1986 and was a veterinary practice owner in North Devon for many years. Following a keen interest in Cardiology, he gained his Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology in 2020 and subsequently joined Heartvets, a peripatetic cardiology service. In 2020 Bill joined an Advanced Clinical Services Network and now offers cardiology referral services to practices in South Wales and South West England.
Liliana Vieira MRCVS
Lily graduated in 2016 from Lisbon University in Portugal. Originally from Madeira, Lily moved to Cardiff in July 2018. She started her new job at the practice soon after and particularly enjoys internal medicine and oncology cases. Outside of work, Lily enjoys spending time with her family, eating treats from the Portuguese bakery and playing with her cousins new kitten, Floss!
