We are a small animal practice in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, first established in 1988. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Emma is originally from Llantwit Major, she graduated from RCV in 2010 and went straight into small animal practice and out of hours work in Leamington Spa. She moved to Coventry and worked in and around there until 2015 when she decided she missed the Vale of Glamorgan too much and moved home. Emma has four dogs, a rescue Staff-cross called Ping, two French Bulldogs called Rupert Bear and Beau Bear, and a Pug called Tallulah. She also has two tortoises, one of which is in his 60's and the other is in his mid-30’s, and finally she has a pony called Sol. Emma loves to be outdoors especially with a pair of skis strapped to her feet!
Carla Asorey Blazquez MRCVS
Carla graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. After graduation she was a volunteer in a small animal practice in Chile and travelled in South America. She has worked in Spain in a small animals and exotic animals centre and has had a one year Internship in the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Santiago. In her free time she loves to play the guitar and spends almost all her time outdoors. She has two dogs and two cats, all are rescued animals.
Franziska David BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS
Ziska joined the practice as soon as she qualified in summer 2015, after enjoying spending time here during her work experience placements at vet school. She is particularly interested in feline medicine, and is enjoying meeting all of our lovely clients and their pets. When not at work, Ziska can usually be found sewing, reading or taking care of her two Birman cats, Bellis and Bellatrix. (Ziska is currently on maternity leave)
Sammy-Jo Edwards RVN
Sammy-Jo joined the practice in January 2018 after working in large referral hospital in Bristol. She enjoys running weight clinics, surgical nursing, feline medicine and emergency critical care cases. Sammy-Jo owns two cats named Gypsy and Boo and a cheeky bunny called Biscuit Barrel. In her spare time she is a pet sitter and a published author, writing articles for veterinary nursing journals.
Claire Laurence RVN
Claire is a registered veterinary nurse and has been at the practice since 2003. Claire enjoys working with both clients and animals, and has a particular interest in weight loss and diabetic clinics. In her spare time she enjoys baking, running and walking her beautiful Cocker Spaniel, Millie.
Victoria Sully RVN
Vicky has worked at the practice for several years, and has completed her training allowing her to qualify as a registered veterinary nurse. During her training, Vicky’s hard work and dedication was recognised by Pencoed College, where she was awarded student of the year. She enjoys all aspects of nursing, but is particularly interested in anaesthesia and critical care nursing. She owns many rescue dogs and cats, and enjoys spending time with them when not in the practice.
Rebecca Saunders BVSc MRCVS
Rebecca graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Liverpool in 2011. Between 2011 and 2017 she worked in New Zealand as a government veterinarian, but returned home to South Wales in 2017 to spend more time with her family and start an exciting new career in small animal practice. In addition to working as a vet, Rebecca teaches yoga classes in Llantwit Major, and is a life-long horse lover.
Patient Care Assistant
Nikita has worked at Pethertons since 2010. She is an experienced patient care assistant and brings invaluable experience of dealing with tortoises as she has been closely involved with ‘International Tortoise Association.’ Outside of work, Nikita enjoys spending time with her two children.
Lisa has worked at Pethertons for over 25 years. She is extremely experienced and a friendly, familiar face known to all practice regulars. Lisa deals with much of the administration within the practice. Away from work she enjoys spending time with her husband, children and her Border Terrier, Chewie.
Saturday Staff and Work Experience
Grace is currently working as a Saturday girl at our Barry branch and thoroughly enjoys interacting with all clients and their pets. She passed her GCSEs with flying colours and has now started her A-levels. Grace aspires to be a veterinary surgeon.
Patient Care Assistant
Clare has worked for the practice for many years both at the Barry and Rumney branches. She loves getting to know both clients and animals and will be a familiar face to those of you that regularly visit our Rumney practice. Clare has a menagerie of animals at home which occupy most of her time away from work.
Dianne has been our friendly receptionist at the practice since 2008. She is able to deal with bookings, general queries and insurance related matters. She is also able to provide advice on the routine care and treatment of your animal. Outside of work, Dianne enjoys spending time with her family.
